OrderFire, a local documentary series featuring candid sit-downs with food industry professionals, will return for its fifth season on Sept. 15. Kicking off the new season is Mike Noll, the executive chef and co-owner of South End restaurant Bardo.
OrderFire is produced by photographer Peter Taylor and hosted by chef Marc Jacksina, currently at Southminster and formerly of Earl’s Grocery. The series brings viewers into the minds of chefs, bartenders, and restaurateurs through discussions of the restaurant industry, its draw, and its challenges.
Noll is a promising choice for the kick-off episode; Bardo’s modern style and well-rounded excellence make the restaurant worthy of consideration for the title of best restaurant in Charlotte. Noll and business partner Jayson Whiteside have a second restaurant, Vana, in the works.
Screenings of the documentary take place from noon to 3 p.m. roughly once a month at Free Range Brewing. Admission is free, but there is always a raffle that benefits a charity of the chef’s choice. The remaining episodes of the year will take place on Oct. 20 and Nov. 17, with more screenings scheduled for 2020. Other confirmed guests for this season include Courtney Buckley of Your Mom’s Donuts and the chefs behind Soul Food Sessions. Keep up to date with the latest events on Facebook. —Kristen Wile
