Editor’s update: Jasmine Grill is now open for business as of Jan. 21.
Jasmine Grill will open in the Central Avenue space formerly occupied by Dim Sum. The restaurant’s owners hope to be open by the end of January.
The original location of Jasmine Grill, on South Boulevard, is popular for its Mediterranean cuisine, including kebabs, falafel, and shawarma. Beef and lamb are cooked on a spit, then the crispy edges are continually sliced off to create the juicy, thin cuts of meat inside the shawarma wraps or part of a platter. Other traditional dishes on the menu include hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and falafel.
The opening means Plaza Midwood has become much more Greek over the past several months. In addition to the gyros that have long been on offer at The Diamond, Kiki recently changed its menu to have a much more significant Greek focus, including adding traditional gyros.
The Central Avenue location will be Jasmine Grill’s third location; a second is located in Rock Hill.
Dim Sum, one of the city’s few traditional Chinese dim sum restaurants, closed a few months ago for the second time. It closed in early 2017, but reopened a few months later before closing permanently during the Covid-19 pandemic.
