Our take: Light refreshing rosés are perfect for summer thirst quenching, and they go down so easily that the price on the Seehof pushes our $20 limit. However, it is so delicious that it is worth the extra couple of bucks for pairing with summer dinners.
Fun fact: Rheinhessen is the largest of the 13 major German wine growing regions. The terrain varies from flat farmland to rolling, steep hills of limestone. One of the most recognized winemakers in this region is Klaus Peter Keller, who is the brother-in-law of Florian Fauth, winemaker at Seehof. White grapes are still 70 percent of the winemaking grapes in Germany; however, with a longer, warmer growing season, pinot noir (known as spätburgunder) is being planted at a fast pace. The rosés from Germany are strong contenders for year-round enjoyment.
