Fun fact: Beaujolais is south of Burgundy. There are wine scholars who put Beaujolais as a separate region, as gamay is the grape most commonly grown here. There are also scholars who append Beaujolais to Burgundy, even though the selected grapes allowed to be grown in Burgundy are pinot noir, chardonnay, and a bit of aligoté. Louis Latour is a negociant, which means the company may have a few of its own vineyards, but it mainly purchases grapes from other growers throughout the region. Maison is the term for winery in Beaujolais; Domaine is used in Burgundy; Château is used in Bordeaux.
