20-Buck Bottle: Good value red from California’s North Coast

    A wine with a story

Lillie’s North Coast 2016 Red Blend

Blend of: Merlot, petit syrah, cabernet sauvignon
    Available at: winestore.
    Price: $12.99

On the nose: plum, light sweetness, balanced, hint of oak.

On the palate:  well integrated tannins, bing cherry, medium+ finish

On the plate: Roasted pork, grilled chicken legs, vinegar based potato salad, beef tacos

Our take: Very smooth and supple wine that is more silky than a Bordeaux blend. Ready now to drink. Put a light chill on it for a dinner off the grill.

Fun fact: Lillie Langtry, a British socialite and actress as well as friend to King Edwards VII, purchased this 23,000 acre farm in the Lake County area of California and successfully planted grape vines. The winery is now part of the Robert Foley portfolio.
