A food-flexible white that sauvignon blanc drinkers will enjoy

2020 Shaya Verdejo Rueda DO Castilla Y Leon, Spain
Available at: Assorted Table Wine & Shop, The Market at Seventh Street
Price: $16.99

Our Take: If you like sauvignon blanc, you will like this wine. Not quite as grassy as sauvignon blanc, it is very food flexible. This could be a good, reasonably priced wine for Thanksgiving.
Fun Fact: Shaya means deer, which is why there is a deer profile on the label. The winery is owned by the Juan Gil family, which has holdings in various regions of Spain. You may be more familiar with their red wines. This wine is made from organic grapes that are harvested from 70-year-old vines, which means the yield is low. It is fermented in steel tanks, then put in old oak tanks for a few months to integrate the acidity.
