20-buck bottle: A versatile sauvignon blanc

This wine will not scorch your tastebuds

Wine: 2018 Allan Scott Family Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand
Available at: Pasta & Provisions, Providence Road
    Price: $14.99

On the nose: Delicate grapefruit with grass and green apple
On the palate: A light body with medium acidity and a refreshing hint of pineapple
On the plate: This wine would pair well with roasted white fish, grilled shrimp with lemon, scallops, or asparagus.

Our take:  This bottle is a shining example of well-balanced Sauvignon from a New Zealand family winery that has been making highly rated wines for 40 years.

Fun fact: You could not purchase wine by the bottle in New Zealand until 1971; prior to that, you drove to wineries and paid to fill your own containers with product. —Anita Skogland
