    20-buck bottle: A Right Bank, merlot-based Bordeaux

Silky red from a stellar importer, Frederick Wildman

Wine: 2016 Chateau Saint-Sulpice, Pierre Duberge, Entre-Deux-Mers, France
    Available at: Whole Foods SouthPark

    Price: $18.99

On the nose: Purple and blue fruit, smoke, cinnamon
On the palate:  Black cherry, plum, and warm spices, with well-integrated tannins and a full body
On the plate: We’d pair this wine with pot roast, venison, mushrooms, or a hearty grain bowl

Our take: This producer is located a stone’s throw from Saint-Émilion and is made with the same care given to first growth Bordeaux. 2016 was an excellent vintage year in Bordeaux; you can drink this wine now or save it for 3 to 5 years.
