    20-Buck Bottle: A crowd-pleasing red in a large bottle

    A semi-bold red from Italy’s central coast

    by Anita Skogland

2021 Vallevo Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo, Italy

Available at: Foxcroft Wine Co., multiple locations
    Price: $29.99 (1.5-liter bottle)

On the Nose: Black cherry, warm spice, rosemary, jam
On the Palate: Plum, cherry, soft integrated tannins, coffee, black olive
On the Plate: Spaghetti in red sauce, lasagna, grilled veggies, burgers of all types, smoked cheeses, BBQ

Our Take: Two regular-sized bottles of wine in one. Great crowd-pleaser for entertaining at home or bringing to someone else’s home.

Fun Facts: Montepulciano is a region in Tuscany famous for Rosso di Montepulciano, made from a clone of Sangiovese. This wine is made from the Montepulciano grape, widely grown throughout Abruzzo on Italy’s east-central coast. The producer is a co-op in the cool, dry, eastward-facing mountains.
