Where to order takeout in Charlotte this Fourth of July

Here’s where to have restaurant-quality celebrations, from Lowcountry boils to burgers

As restaurants pick up in business, many kitchens are too busy to put together the take-home family meals they were serving this time last summer. However, there are still plenty of places to pick up a spread to bring home and heat up or have delivered to your door for your Fourth of July celebration. Below are some of our picks. This list will be updated.

    Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, LoSo
Celebrate with a casual grilling package of burgers, hot dogs, or kebabs, or opt for something a bit more formal, like wagyu flank steak or roast chicken. Sides serve 4 to 6 and include potato salad, pasta salad, slaw, corn salad, and broccolini. Dishes are available for pick up and delivery on July 2, and are prepared cold with reheat instructions. Order online by July 1 at noon.

    Community Matters Café, Uptown
The non-profit restaurant associated with Charlotte Rescue Mission is serving a family meal that serves 4 to 6 people and includes pulled pork, chicken, mac-and-cheese, collards, cornbread, watermelon, and a banana pecan cake for $100. Order online for pickup on July 2.

    Freshlist, Belmont
Chef Matthew Krenz, formerly of The Asbury, puts together a menu of his favorite cookout dishes, including burgers using beef from his family’s farm. Pick from burgers, sausages, green beans, pasta salad, potato salad, and more ordered family style à la carte. Order online for delivery or pick-up on your usual date.

    Midwood Smokehouse, multiple locations
Party packs are available year-round at all of Midwood Smokehouse’s locations, feeding any number of guests from four to 24. Select your favorite of the restaurant’s meats and sides, including pork, brisket, mac-and-cheese, baked beans, and collards. $40-$185. Order 24 hours in advance by phone.

    Something Classic, delivery
Select a main course of burgers, pulled pork, or whole chicken to pair with street corn, watermelon salad, baked beans, and slaw, with your choice of cookies, brownies, bars, and handpies for dessert. Each “barbecue box” serves four for $100. Order online by June 30 at midnight for free delivery July 3.

    Table & Twine, delivery
Have a Lowcountry boil for up to six delivered to your door from Table & Twine. The kit includes three pounds of shrimp, 1.5 pounds of sausage, potatoes, and eight half ears of corn, as well as garlic bread and peach cobbler for $129.99. Make selections à la carte for more traditional grilling options, such as burgers and chicken. Order online for delivery.
