What’s next for the Dumpling Lady and Papi Queso trucks?
Here’s the plan now that they’ve opened in Optimist Hall

Two of the city’s most popular food trucks have opened as brick-and-mortar spots inside of Optimist Hall: The Dumpling Lady, which serves dumplings and noodles, and Papi Queso, known for its grilled cheeses. The Dumpling Lady has consistently commanded the longest line in the food hall, just as her food truck did anywhere it was parked. Both businesses, though, have had to switch their focus to the food hall. So what does that mean for the food trucks?
Qian Zhang, who owns The Dumpling Lady with her husband, says the food truck will still be out and about, but not as frequently as it used to. Before opening in Optimist Hall, the truck was out six days a week. You’ll likely see the truck out four or five times per week going forward. This week, it will be stationed in Uptown during lunch time. You can follow the truck on Facebook to see where it’ll be parked.
Papi Queso, which opened earlier this month in Optimist Hall, won’t be out on the streets for the near future as they plan on focusing their efforts on the food hall. Owners Brian Stockholm and Shelley Odom do plan to return to Food Truck Friday at Sycamore Brewing, though likely next year, and eventually add more regular gigs. —Kristen Wile
