The Porter’s House hosts patio party for restaurant worker relief
The Waverly steakhouse hopes to help friends in the industry
Created in March 2020 as the pandemic battered the hospitality industry, the N.C Restaurant Workers Relief Fund works to raise money and aid local restaurant employees in need. The organization provides grants to restaurant kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders. Since its founding, the NCRWRF has raised more than $1.5 million in grants and donations.
Consequently, Jon Dressler, owner of The Porter’s House, wanted to get involved.
“It’s been a hard year for everyone in the industry,” Dressler says. “We’ve had a difficult year, but we’ve been given some resources, and want to give back to our friends in North Carolina.”
Dressler and his staff hope the money raised from the event will support colleagues in need. The fundraiser will feature live music, a raffle, and wine packages. All of the proceeds from the ticketed event will be donated directly to the North Carolina Restaurant Workers Relief Fund.
“We all have friends in the industry,” Dressler says. “All of them have struggled differently, but if you’re doing okay, even in the best of times people should try to help out our fellow mankind.”
The event will be held on the restaurant’s street patio this Thursday, April 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. You can reserve a table for two for $100, a table for four for $200, a table for six for $300, and a table for eight for $400. Each guest will receive a complimentary bubbles toast and two raffle tickets. Purchase tickets here.
