Q&A: Thomas Avenue restaurant takeover
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: I read that restaurants were going to be able to set up tables along Thomas in Plaza Midwood… is that happening?
UP: A survey went out recently gathering feedback about what it should look like if Thomas Avenue was turned into a pedestrian street, with dining allowed on the street. Most stories I saw were based solely on that survey. I checked in with the Plaza Midwood Merchants to get an update on what the next steps were, and was told that they received a lot of positive feedback about the “streatery,” and are looking to reconsider it when the weather cools down as long as Covid trending indicates it would be safe to do so.
Q: I have family driving through town, and we want to meet them for dinner somewhere near Carowinds off I-77. Any suggestions?
UP: Definitely check out The Flipside Café! It’s a short drive off the highway, and Jon and Amy Fortes’ restaurant is a can’t-miss.
Q: Where is Brian Lorusso going?!
UP: We’re doing some reporting and hope to share that information with you today. Stay tuned! If you missed the news, here’s who will be taking the place of the longtime bartender at Dogwood in SouthPark.
