Q&A: Mr. K’s, St. Patrick’s Day beers
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Mr. K’s is closed, and will become a pizza spot. Kristen Wile/UP
Q: RIP Mr. K’s. What can we expect from its replacement, The Crust?
Kristen: I’m so sad about this one. I loved walking to Mr. K’s for a chocolate malt and fries when I worked in South End. The Crust, which will take its place, comes from Naples, Florida, but serves Midwest-style pizza. I haven’t had it, as I’ve never been to Naples, but if I had to guess, I’d say it will be most like Bisonte Pizza among pizza shops in Charlotte. The Crust’s signature square cut pizzas are thin-crust and available in three sizes. They’ll also have salads and hot subs on the menu.
Q: Where are the best places to go for a St. Patrick’s Day beer?
Kristen: If you’re hoping to celebrate in an Irish pub, I’d suggest heading to The Workman’s Friend in Plaza Midwood, Grace O’Malleys in Matthews, or Belfast Mill in Brevard Court. This Saturday, Tommy’s Pub will be hosting live music from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you’re looking simply for good beer in a safe, spread-out space, Justin recommends NoDa, Sycamore, Olde Meck, or Heist. We’ll be sharing a few places to get takeout on St. Patrick’s Day, too.
