Q&A: Late-night cut-off of liquor sales and UP’s new social media content
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: What are your thoughts on the 10:00 p.m. liquor cut-off?
UP: The idea behind this concept is to reduce late-night gatherings and crowds, which would decrease the spread of Covid-19. But, looking at how restaurants, bars, and breweries have already been negatively impacted by covid related regulations, shutdowns, and delayed reopenings it would seem more beneficial to meet in the middle somewhere. Possibly, allow only the selling of liquor to guests seated at tables or at the bar past 10:00 p.m. or make a greater effort monitoring and holding accountable the restaurants and bars not adhering to proper social distancing and doing their part to to decrease the spread of covid. Seems like a few irresponsible restaurants and bars are ruining it for everyone. I’ve reached out to bar managers and owners for their input and plan to cover this topic more next week.
Q: Will UP’s TikTok videos featuring chefs, demos, and behind the scenes be available on Instagram too?
UP: Yes! We will first post on TikTok then cross share on other UP social media outlets. We have lots of plans for using our social media platforms for more casual and approachable content and will certainly share on all of them knowing not everyone uses TikTok as much as Instagram or as much as Facebook. You might even see a few of our favorites show up in a newsletter once in a while.
