Q: Do we have a chance in the James Beard Awards this year?
Kristen: I think so! We wrote about this recently, but the Awards have shifted their focus a bit. Chefs are not only considered for their culinary skills, but also their involvement in the community. It’s hard to imagine there are many chefs who are more involved with improving their cities than chefs Chayil Johnson and Sam Diminich — and both are fantastic cooks, too.

Q: Where should I order my sandwiches from for the Super Bowl? Looking for more deli sandwiches than sliders.
Kristen: The Culture Shop is serving a platter of 20 mini sandwiches for $85, available for preorder. That would be my top pick, but get your order in soon — today is the last day to do so. Pasta & Provisions also does sandwich trays as part of its regular catering menu. Cheat’s is doing a build-your-own cheesesteak platter.
