Q&A: Crusty bread, festive dining rooms

Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: I love to keep good bread stocked for sandwiches, toast, etc. and would love to continually support a local bakery. Do you know of a few places that consistently have loaves of good quality, crusty bread for purchase? Thanks for your help!
Kristen: I’d suggest a subscription to Verdant Bread! They have a variety of rustic loaves. I’m a particularly big fan of their olive loaf, which I’ve snagged at the Matthews Farmers’ Market, but their classic sourdough is a great option to have on hand for all kinds of things.

Q: I want to dine out somewhere with beautiful decorations. Where should I go?
Kristen: The Fig Tree or 300 East! Those old houses are particularly beautiful backdrops for holiday dining, and both are already decorated for the season.
