Q&A: Albertine, tailgating options, popping the question

Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: Any plans for a ticketed preview event at Albertine?
    Tom:
Not at this point, but if we can make it happen, we will! Certainly, this new Uptown concept by Joe and Katy Kindred is creating quite a stir around town, and we look forward to telling you more about it one way or another. We love giving our readers sneak peeks at restaurants before they open. Recent events at Mano Bella Bistro & Market, Puerta, and Rosemont all have been great successes as well as give the restaurant owners valuable feedback and early exposure. We’re always on the lookout for new opportunities to showcase locally owned Charlotte area restaurants.

Q: I love tailgating, but I don’t like to cook. What are my takeout options for game days?
    Tom:
UP writer Ebony Morman has your back. She wrote an excellent gameday takeout guide for tailgating — at the stadium or at home. Check it out.

Q: I’m about ready to pop the question. What are the romantic restaurants you recommend I get on my knee?
    Tom:
First, congrats! We promise not to tell anyone. First place that comes to mind is The Fig Tree, which as seen its fair share of proposals over the years. It is on most people’s lists for special events or romantic dining. With its chandeliers and fine dining tables, La Belle Helene would also provide a great setting. Restaurant Constance is small and intimate, and you can’t beat the food. Baku is dark and sultry and would be the place to bend the knee if your intended has a passion for quality sushi and other Japanese fare. We look forward to receiving our invitation.
