Greg and Subrina Collier close Uptown Yolk

The Leah & Louise owners’ breakfast concept introduced them to the city

Greg and Subrina Collier, owners of Leah & Louise, have closed their 7th Street Public Market restaurant, Uptown Yolk. The food hall space was a reincarnation of their first restaurant together, The Yolk in Rock Hill. The restaurant moved from Rock Hill to the Uptown space in early 2019, serving breakfast and lunch in the mornings and afternoons, then shifting to an up-and-coming chef pop-up at night. Some of the concepts in the rotation included 225 Street Food and The Cookin’ Coop.

“We enjoyed having Uptown Yolk at 7th Street as it introduced us to a completely new market of guests,” Subrina Collier says. “Our time at the market was a time of learning and growth, but the pandemic limited our ability to reach our full potential for Uptown Yolk.”

Uptown Yolk is not the only concept to leave the market as Uptown businesses struggle with the lack of commuters to the city. Zia Pia recently decided to close its storefront and shift to online sales.

Chef Oscar James, who formerly helped run The Yolk, is now working at Leah & Louise, which serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
