Covid-19 vaccine opens to restaurant workers

State moves to expand Group 3 eligibility

Restaurant workers will be eligible to receive a Covid-19 vaccine starting tomorrow, March 3. Governor Roy Cooper had previously stated that more frontline essential workers would be eligible as soon as March 10. With the approval of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, however, the timeline is moving forward.

Sign up for a vaccine appointment using the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services My Spot My Shot website.

The foodservice essential workers designation includes restaurant employees, supply chain workers such as farmers and meatpackers, and those involved in food distribution. According to the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association, hotel workers are not yet eligible.

The NCRLA has put together a collection of Covid-19 resources for hospitality employees, including an employer letter template and resources for owners.
