Serve restaurant-quality Labor Day cookouts at home

Here are local restaurants offering meal kits

Labor Day shouldn’t be spent laboring in the kitchen. Whether you’re hosting a small group of friends or just cooking for your immediate family, you can lean on local restaurants to do the prep for you — and support a business in need in the process. Here’s where to grab a take-and-grill Labor Day feast.

    Community Matters Café
This non-profit restaurant near Bank of America Stadium is selling a family meal of brisket, ribs, chicken, and sides, complete with cornbread and banana pudding. Order by 3 p.m. on Sept. 2. $100, serves four to six.

    Copain Gatherings
This weekend’s features from Copain include dishes fit for Labor Day: ribs and brisket from sister concept Noble Smoke, brats, slaw, and peach cobbler. Order a la carte for pick up at the South Park space.

    La-Tea-Da’s Catering
Order meals that serve two or four for pick-up in Plaza Midwood or home delivery. Start with a deviled egg dip, followed by fall feast: spinach salad with apples and candied pecans; caprese chicken with apple, pear, and cranberry compote; hashbrown casserole; and vegetables, followed by strawberry shortcake. $45 for two, $89 for four.

    Midwood Smokehouse
Party packs are available year-round at all of Midwood Smokehouse’s locations, feeding any number of guests from four to 24. Select your favorite of the restaurant’s meats and sides, including pork, brisket, mac-and-cheese, baked beans, and collards. $40-$185. Order 24 hours in advance.

    Something Classic
Select a protein — burgers, pulled pork, or chicken — to serve with sides of Mexican street corn, watermelon salad, baked beans, coleslaw, and deviled eggs. Dessert and strawberry lemonade are also included. Free delivery; order by midnight on Sept. 2. $100, serves four.

    Sweet Lew’s BBQ
Pick up Texas-style beef ribs, $20 a bone, or pre-order a beer and pork package: two pounds of pork, a pint of slaw, six buns, and your choice of beer. $38, serves six.

    Table & Twine
Order a summer grilling kit a la carte, with gouda bacon burgers, brats, chicken, or pork shoulder as your choices of mains, and get a free margarita kit this weekend. Sides include pasta salad, street corn, slaw, and potato salad. Proteins $6 to $12, serves two.

    Your Mom’s Donuts
Grab everything you need for a cookout and more with from Your Mom’s Donuts’ grocery pick-up. The burger kit includes 2 pounds of ground beef, homemade brioche buns, gruyere cheese, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, and cookies, with all of the produce coming from local farms. A hot dog kit is also available, with hot dogs, brioche buns, King of Pops popsicles, creamer potatoes, and assorted veggies. Burgers $45, hot dogs $30, each serves four.
