Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit will open in a 1,350-square foot space at The Penrose, a new 350-unit luxury multifamily community at 327 W. Tremont Ave. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2019, the grab-and-go eatery is an offshoot of Callie’s Charleston Biscuits, a Charleston-based biscuit company and Southern pantry.
Since opening in 2005, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits have gained national attention and owner Carrie Morey has become one of the South’s most beloved top bakers. The biscuit shop currently has two locations in Charleston and one in Atlanta serving a variety of hot biscuits, pimento cheese sandwiches, and a variety of breakfast, lunch, and late-night treats. The Charlotte location will include a full lunch menu including homemade soups and fresh salads plus a coffee bar created in conjunction with King Bean Coffee. Additional retail space will include Callie’s Charleston Biscuit line of frozen biscuits, pimento cheese, and pantry staple must-haves.
Located within walking distance of the Rail Trail and South End shopping and dining, The Penrose includes 2,500 square feet of street-level retail. —Justin Burke-Samson
