Artisanal owners target January opening for SouthPark
Peppervine will be in SouthPark’s Piedmont Town Center
Restaurateurs Bill and Anita Greene are planning to open their second restaurant, Peppervine, in SouthPark’s Piedmont Town Center early next year. The Greenes own Artisanal in Banner Elk, a concept beloved for its ingredient-driven cuisine. For their debut Charlotte restaurant, they are partnering with Imagine One Hospitality. Imagine One owners Robert and Robb Lackey also own Café Rule & Wine Bar in Hickory.
Peppervine will share the same focus on local ingredients, sustainability, and quality sourcing as Artisanal. The breads, stocks, and ice cream will all be made in-house. The restaurant is going for an upscale, yet approachable vibe, with seasonal dishes using modern techniques and textures. Menu items include pimento cheese scones, made to order and served with pepper jelly and sorghum butter; squid ink bucatini with charred octopus; and smoked duck breast with eggplant, shishito, and umeboshi (a pickled Japanese stone fruit).
Bill Greene will oversee the kitchen, while Anita Greene manages the front-of-house. The beverage program will include craft cocktails, and there will be sommeliers on staff, so expect a robust wine program. We’ll have more on this soon, but keep your eyes out for a January opening. —Kristen Wile
