And they’re not just bourbons

Spirits lovers, there are some new single barrel selections coming to town for your enjoyment. And it’s not just whiskeys.
Rare Roots Hospitality, the restaurant group behind Dogwood Southern Table & Bar, Fin & Fino, Dressler’s, and The Porter’s House, traveled to Mexico to pick a barrel of tequila from El Tesoro. Their barrel, barrel B-104, will be bottled at proof of 81.2. It has notes of cinnamon, herbs, and black pepper, and complex enough to be sipped but also make excellent cocktails. That barrel should be available across the Rare Roots restaurants sometime in October.
Staff from The Kimpton Hotel, with restaurant Angeline’s and rooftop bar Merchant & Trade, will travel to Mexico to select a barrel in August. That barrel will also arrive in October.
The staff at Dot Dot Dot selected some bourbons you can drink today at the bar. A team trip to Kentucky resulted in two barrel selections: A 10-year-old Elijah Craig and and a single barrel pick of Old Forrester. They’re also serving a 15-year-old Knob Creek single barrel, and are expecting an 11-year Knob Creek in October. —Kristen Wile
