Q&A: El Toro Bruto pork belly and Fourth of July
Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: Why isn’t the pork belly breakfast taco on the menu at El Toro Bruto?
Kristen: We checked in with chef Hector, and he said they’ll be back soon though there’s no official timeline. “We just wanted to get a little bit of our menu out first,” he shared. Even more exciting news: “We’ll have a liver mush taco on the menu soon.”
Q: What places are doing Fourth of July takeout?
Kristen: In addition to last week’s suggestion of Table & Twine, Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen is doing barbecue packs with burgers, veggies, hot dogs, and chicken as well as family-style sides. You can also order family-size meals from barbecue restaurants like Sweet Lew’s, Noble Smoke, and Midwood Smokehouse.
Q: Do you know of any restaurants in the area raising money/donating proceeds to abortion funds?
Kristen: Billy Sunday had a special cocktail on offer supporting women’s reproductive rights, but it was only a one-day thing so far. Otherwise, I haven’t seen any just yet. I’ll keep you posted here if I come across any.
