20-Buck Bottle: Refreshing white from Tuscany

This grape produces a variety of styles

Castellani Vermentino 2019 from Tuscany, Italy

Available at: Arthur’s Wine Store, lower floor of Belk, SouthPark Mall
Price: $14.99

On The Nose: Meyer lemon, bright, fresh, floral
On The Palate:  Medium-plus body, light minerality, honeysuckle, citrus
On The Plate: Pair with pan-seared branzino, linguine with lemon caper sauce, creamy soft cheese with honey

Our Take: Vermentino is a popular grape on Sardegna, Italy, where the wines tend to have high acidity. This vermentino is less acidic with more layered flavors.

Fun Fact: The Castellani family has been farming the land in the Arno River region for over 100 years. Despite floods and a devastating fire that destroyed their production facility, they continue to make quality wine at reasonable prices. They are well known for their chianti; their vermentino production is more recent. This vineyard is near the west coast of Tuscany.
