Q&A: Spots for singles, coffee, and CSAs
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: This might not be the question question for y’all, but what are the best bars or places to meet other single foodies?
Kristen: You’re right, this is a tough one, but I’m happy to share some thoughts! I’m not sure there’s one specific place that’s best for singles. I’d suggest, instead, that you become a regular at a bar you feel comfortable at and get to know the bartenders there. There might be another regular in the same boat, and if you’re looking to make an acquaintance in a non-creepy way, I’m sure they’d be happy to facilitate, or at least suggest who you might get along with. We’ve made lots of friends this way at Dogwood.
Q: What’s the best local coffee in Charlotte?
Kristen: Actually (assuming this is what you’re asking), there aren’t all that many coffees roasted here in Charlotte! A lot of places have their beans roasted by Counter Culture Coffee in Durham, to great results. Pure Intentions is local, and can be found in a lot of coffee shops around town. Giddy Goat in Plaza Midwood roasts its own coffee, and the team behind Night Swim Coffee plans to soon begin roasting their own coffee, too. When Backdrop Coffee opens in West Charlotte, local roaster Haerfest Coffee will have an operation there.
Q: What area farms have CSAs?
Kristen: Thank you for this question, it’s a reminder to put together our annual list of spring CSAs! We’ll get on that for you. Stay tuned!
