On The Nose: Fresh citrus, grass, rosemary
On The Palate: Balanced acidity, medium-light body, orange zest, passion fruit
On The Plate: Pair with scallops, shrimp, roasted artichokes, goat cheese
Our Take: The high alcohol content gave me pause at 13.5 percent in this delicate white wine, but it is well integrated, balanced and the acidity is crisp but refreshing.
Fun Fact: Jules Taylor is a well known winemaker in the Marlborough area on the south island of New Zealand. Her husband, George Elworthy, was the behind-the-scenes finance guy. He decided he wanted to make some wine, and The Better Half is his label. There is a friendly family rivalry between husband and wife, but we are the beneficiaries of two great labels!
