20-Buck Bottle: A French Picpoul that shines like the Mediterranean

This wine is light, crisp, and refreshing

2020 Guillaume de Guers Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc, France

Available at: Whole Foods SouthPark
Price: $12.99

On the nose: Citrus, white flowers, mineral, fresh basil
On the palate: Light body with lime, light acidity, apricot and short finish
On the plate: Best paired with scallops, oysters, mussels, white fish, fruit salad

Our take: Picpoul is grown along the Mediterranean coast of France. It is a consistently good value white that goes really well with shell fish.

Fun fact: Unlike most grapes grown in France, Picpoul is both the name of the grape and the region.
