    20-Buck Bottle: A crisp, low-acid white

A nice everyday white for casual sipping or light dishes

    by Anita Skogland

2022 Domaine Le Clef du Recit, Anthony Girard, Sauvignon Menetou-Salon, France

    Available at: winestore, SouthPark
    Price: $19.99

On the Nose: Apricot, lime, fresh basil, mineral
On the Palate: Light acidity, relatively light body, refreshing, crisp, green apple
On the Plate: Simple pasta with butter and veggies, white fish, green salads, goat cheese with green grapes

Our Take: Good all-around white that does not have the heavy acidity or green notes often found in Sauvignons from New Zealand

Fun Facts: The Menetou-Salon region is next to Sancerre in the eastern region of the Loire Valley. 90% of the grapes grown are Sauvignon Blanc, with 10% Pinot Noir. Anthony Girard grew up in this region on a vineyard. He travelled to other wine growing regions to learn more about wine production. When he returned to France, he purchased this property and was gifted with a large key – Le Clef du Recit – which is what he named his domaine, and explains the key on the label. The soil is mostly limestone, with a parcel of gravel to add minerality to the blend.
