Q&A: Fall is approaching and folks want to know about apples and pumpkin beer

Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

    Apple

Q: Where can you find royal limbertwig apples in Charlotte?
UP: These apples are a native southern Appalachian variety and from what I could find you will have to travel up north to get them. There is Perry Lowe Orchards in Moravian Falls, NC who has a variety of apples including royal limbertwig. I have a few asks out to find where local chefs get this specific apple and will update once I hear back.

Q: What Charlotte chefs will be at Euphoria in Greenville this weekend?
UP: There are several Charlotte chefs that will be at Euphoria this year, I (Justin) will be there Saturday documenting the day and reporting back live. As for chefs, expect to see: Ashley Boyd, Bruce Moffett, Chris Coleman, Clark Barlowe, Craig Barbour, Matt Barry, Richard Gruica, Mike Long, Rob Clement, Shai Fargian, and Kyle McKnight representing Gastonia.

Q: What local pumpkin beer do you recommend that isn’t embarrassing or basic to drink?
UP: First, drinking pumpkin beer is not embarrassing! At least thats what I tell myself. I do have two pumpkin beers that I truly enjoy and have found non-pumpkin beer drinkers to also like. NoDa Brewing Company’s Gordgeous pumpkin ale is a dark ale that uses whole-seed spices that include allspice, cardamom, cloves, and ginger root making it less sweet and more spicy. The other is Sycamore Brewing’s Pumpkin Latte Blonde that has all the classic pumpkin beer spices with the addition to coffee making it less sugary and more bold with a bitter note at the end.
