New market concept coming to The Plaza
Djordje Avramovic shares a few details about his passion project

Plaza Midwood will soon be home to a new concept from previous Intermezzo team member, Djordje Avramovic. Avramovic left Intermezzo — which his family opened in 2007 on Central Avenue serving Italian and Serbian fare — a year and a half ago. In that time, he has been working on developing his own concept.
Final details are still in the works, but the concept will open in the former Segen Food Mart at 2212 The Plaza. The yet-to-named market will have hot food available to-go or to enjoy onsite along with a full service bar and will not be affiliated with Intermezzo.
Construction has included the addition of a large outdoor space alongside the building, and the bar will open to the outside where guests can settle in on the patio to enjoy the market’s offerings. Those offerings will shift as Aramovic learns more about the neighborhood and what customers are looking for.
“Every business, every restaurant morphs into something that fits the people around them and their needs,” Aramovic says. “I would like to hear what the neighborhood wants off the bat, so that’s a lot of research. My goal is to make it as good as possible, but also be easily molded to what the neighborhood wants.”
He aims to open the market before the end of the year.
