    LuLu’s on Central closes

The casual seafood house to focus on relaunched Tuckaseegee location

Drivers passing LuLu’s on Central Avenue on New Year’s Day witnessed workers removing furniture and equipment from the Plaza Midwood seafood restaurant.

Unpretentious Palate confirmed the restaurant’s permanent closure with a LuLu spokesperson LaToya Evans. “The ownership unfortunately chose to close LuLu’s on Central after continuing to experience challenges related to supply chain, staffing, and other operational roadblocks,” Evans says.

Opened in March 2022 by Jay and Miketa Davis, LuLu’s on Central offered Maryland-style crab cakes and other traditional fish house offerings. However, the eatery was continually beset with a number of issues, including inconsistent service, often running out of items (including its signature crab cakes), and low health inspection scores.

With the closing, the Davis’ have relaunched its original West Charlotte location. “The focus has shifted to its original location on Tuckaseegee Road, which will also begin serving many of the original menu items that made LuLu’s a Charlotte favorite, including their famous crab cakes,” Evans says.

In addition to its seafood menu, LuLu’s on Tuckaseegee will also be offering breakfast service on Fridays and Saturdays in the coming weeks.
