Milkbread, the casual concept from Kindred owners Joe and Katy Kindred named after their popular bread offering, will open a second location in Plaza Midwood. The restaurant will take the former Dairy Queen space on Central Avenue.

The first Milkbread location will open in Davidson, near sister concepts Kindred and Hello, Sailor. Milkbread will serve milk bread donuts, crispy chicken, bowls, and salads. Milkbread will also serve a custom blend of coffee in partnership with Summit Coffee.

“We are super passionate about restoring and bringing new life to old buildings and we are humbled and thrilled at the opportunity to breathe new life into the iconic former Dairy Queen building in Plaza Midwood,” Milkbread shared on its social media. “We feel a sense of responsibility to honor this special corner in our Charlotte community with a thoughtful, careful restoration. We are proud that our young, Charlotte based small business will join the historic neighborhood and keep such a special building in local hands.”

The restaurant will open in summer of 2022.
