Catawba Brewing adds in-house dining
Blue Fork will open later this month

Catawba Brewing has added a kitchen to its Belmont neighborhood brewery space. The new in-house restaurant, Blue Fork, will be run by chef Nikki Young. Young’s food truck often served the brewery before the chef moved into the restaurant’s permanent kitchen.
Service will be fast casual, with diners ordering at a window on the left side of the tap room. On the menu will be traditional beer accompaniments, such as dips, flatbreads, sandwiches, and wings. The dishes will be made using beer from Catawba. There will also be a kids’ menu. Each week will also bring a featured special, meant to pair with the current small batch release at the brewery.
Blue Fork will begin service on Jan. 17. The kitchen will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
With so many breweries in Charlotte, several seem to be using food to differentiate themselves. The Hot Box recently opened inside Southern Strain Brewing, and Legion Brewing has amped up its food offerings at both locations after hiring chef Gene Briggs. —Kristen Wile
