On the nose: There’s a scent of seafoam, with that iron and saltwater smell you pick up as your near the coast
On the palate: Stewed raspberry with a medium body
On the plate: We’d pair this with a heavy seafood pasta
Our take: This nose on this wine may turn some people off immediately, but it gets a lot more fruit-forward on your tongue. With a blend of 60 percent carignan, 30 percent Grenache noir, and 10 percent syrah, it’s a unique flavor profile with a body just heavier than a pinot noir. It might be too unique; the chance of us buying it again is 40 percent. Yet it was an interesting sip brought in by distributor Kermit Lunch, whose taste in wine is always reliable.
