20-Buck Bottle: 2016 Côtes du Rhône

A French red from Dilworth Tasting Room

Yves Cheron 2016 “Les Dentelles” Côtes du Rhône

On the shelves at: Dilworth Tasting Room, $19
On the nose: Strawberry shortcake, with hints of rhubarb
On the palate: This wine’s a little tart with subtle tannins. It has notes of pomegranate and red fruit.
On the plate: We’d pair this one with a creamy cheese, like brie, or a gamey meat with a fruit compote.

Our take: This Southern Rhone blend of grenache and syrah is an easy drinker. It’s not too complex, and perhaps a little green, but it leaves you wanting another sip. There’s a 90 percent likelihood of us buying this wine again; it’s a great option to have on hand.

In this recurring series, we review wines $20 and under from local wine shops. Have a favorite we should sample? Let us know! Tried this one? Leave your review in the comments!
