20-Buck Bottle: Rich red blend that screams summer

    Unoaked French red from Minervois

Château Coupe-Roses Minervois La Bastide 2019, France

    Available at: Whole Foods
    Price: $17.49

On The Nose: Blueberry, plum, garrigue, fresh
On The Palate:  Medium+ body, balanced tannins, cherry, rich, light acidity
On The Plate: Pair with burgers, ribs, arancini, ratatouille

Our Take: The fruit flavors shine in this unoaked blend of carignan, grenache, and syrah.

Fun Fact: Minervois is located in the Languedoc area of southern France. The vineyards are located at 800-1,500 feet above sea level. The cool nights and Mediterranean breezes keep the grapes from overheating before they are ready for harvest. Garrigue is a term used throughout southern France, where the vineyards are often surrounded by large shrubs of rosemary, thyme, sage and lavender. The strong aromas coming from these herbs permeate the grape skins and often influence the aroma of the juice.
