20-Buck Bottle: A delightful rosé with a spritz

Chill this wine for a summer evening in the porch swing

Pico Maccario Lavignone Piemonte Rosato 2019

    Available at: winestore.
    Price: $12.99

    Tasting notes
On the nose: Watermelon, delicate strawberry, clean and fresh
On the palate: Dry, cranberry, silky, with a hint of spritz
On the plate: Pair this wine with simply prepared white fish like flounder, sole, or cod; fresh tomato with pasta

    Our take
This is a good value rosé made from the Barbera grape, produced in Northwest Italy.

    Parting thought
This wine is imported by Winebow. When I am out and about and searching for wine in an unfamiliar wine store, I look for certain importers who have top notch portfolios as a guide to making a good selection. Some names to keep in mind: Winebow, Kermit Lynch, Therry Theise, Bowler, Rosenthal, Frederick Wildman, Vine Street, Peter Weygandt, and our own Charlotte-based Eric Solomon. —Anita Skogland
